What is Opera Cashback?
Opera Cashback is a reward program created by Opera, a company that builds amazing internet browsers for more than 20 years. Opera Cashback is the first cashback service built directly into a desktop browser to deliver the best shopping experience for our browser users. It is intuitive, non-intrusive, and easy to access in all Opera desktop browsers: Opera PC, Opera GX, and Opera Crypto.
How does the cashback work?
Cashback works really simply. We cooperate with hundreds of online stores worldwide and as a result of this cooperation, we receive an agreed commission (usually it’s a % of the sale amount, but may differ in some cases) of all the online sales generated by cashback users. Cashback is a part of this commission we receive from retailers, which then we can share with you as a cashback reward.
How do I start using Opera Cashback?
Anyone can join Opera Cashback if they are 18 years of age or older and have full legal capacity. To get started with Opera Cashback, just visit cashback.opera.com and create a FREE Opera account. If you already have an Opera account, sign in with your credentials to access Opera Cashback.
How do I get the cashback?
Getting cashback from Opera is really easy. Please follow these simple steps to make sure you get cashback:
Select a store
Browse our site and choose from 1000s of retailers and exclusive offers.
Activate cashback
From the merchant list select the one you want to purchase from and click the "Start Shopping" button. Alternatively, you can check if Opera Cashback is available at your favourite online store. Visit the store’s page and see if the Opera Cashback badge is displayed next to the address bar - if so, click it to shop with cashback.
Shop as usual
Find the product and complete the shopping.
Get the cashback
After a successful purchase, the retailer pays us the commission and we add part of that commission as a cashback reward to your earnings.
Important: Once a retailer confirms your order (usually it takes from 30 to 90 days but may depend on the partners’ policy), the cashback status will be changed to “approved”. Please, note that we are not a party of the transaction that takes place between you and the store you purchase in, therefore we do not know the details of such a transaction and in case the cashback reward is not credited or confirmed, we always need to reach out the partner to find out the reason behind each case.
How do I make sure that my purchase is tracked?
For the best experience, we recommend you use Opera Browser or install Opera Cashback extension. Additionally, it is highly recommended that you:
Use only Opera Cashback
Ensure that you do not use at the same time other cashback or coupon services, browser extensions, ad blocking or tracking blocking software, VPN, or incognito mode before entering the shop.
Activate cashback
Ensure that you are logged into your cashback account before accessing the merchant’s page, and access the shop through the link provided on the Opera Cashback page. When using Opera Browser or Opera Cashback extension, check if the icon or the cashback badge is active (purple) before finalizing the purchase.
Accept cookies
Accept cookies on the merchant’s page.
Don’t use 3rd party promotion
Ensure that you do not enter a promotion, coupons, gift cards, or discount codes that might be not compatible with the cashback service.
Wait for confirmation
Once you have added items to your shopping cart, do not delay in finalizing the transaction or payment. Once the transaction is completed, wait for the confirmation of your order on the merchant’s page before closing the tab or window.
Don’t modify your order
Ensure that you do not cancel, modify or return your purchase and that you do not enter into a dispute with the merchant.
Your transaction should appear in your cashback account within a couple of hours, but in some cases, it can take up to 48 hours. Please be patient and wait 48 hours before contacting customer support in case your cashback has not appeared.
How is my cashback calculated?
The amount of cashback that you receive for your purchase is different in each store. Usually, a cashback reward is calculated from the order amount and does not include taxes, shipping costs, or costs of any additional services contracted.
Cashback can be the percentage of the purchase sum or fixed sum for performing certain actions (usually buying in a partner's store or subscribing to newsletters). The cashback rate may vary depending on the category of the product you purchase within one retailer.
Some stores may not credit cashback for the purchase of certain categories of goods or products. The cashback reward for travel and accommodation reservations is calculated out of the booking price, excluding insurance and ancillary services, as well as any commission charged by the travel agency. Each store may require specific conditions that are necessary to be fulfilled in order to receive cashback. You can always check cashback rates for individual stores on store page on the Opera Cashback website.
Why the transaction has not appeared in my account?
There are a few possible reasons for this:
- You have not activated your Cashback account yet
- You were not signed into your Cashback account while making the purchase
- You did not visit the merchant’s shop from the link on the Opera Cashback webpage
- You used another cashback service for your purchase
You can see which online shops you have visited through Opera Cashback by clicking your profile icon in the top-right corner and selecting the Shopping trips tab. You can also see on which visits the purchase with cashback was made.
If you have followed the instructions and the transaction was still not recorded, then there may be a delay. It can sometimes take up to 48 hours for a transaction to be recorded, so please check it again tomorrow or the next day.

When will my transaction be approved?
After making a purchase using Opera Cashback, the transaction will be visible in your account with the status Pending.
Once Opera receives a confirmation from the merchant that the transaction was finalized, the status will change to Approved. The amount of time this takes always depends on the merchant. More details on waiting times are available on the Opera Cashback page in each merchant’s profile. If the transaction has the status Rejected, you can click on Why was my cashback transaction rejected? to see what happened.
Why was my cashback transaction rejected?
Your cashback might be rejected due to one of the following reasons:
- The transaction was canceled
- The purchase or reservation has been modified
- The purchase was not completed
- The purchase was returned
- There is a dispute with the merchant
- Another cashback service or extension was used
- You have used a promotion or discount code that is not compatible with the cashback service
- Violation of Cashback shopping rules. Please check our terms and conditions.

How do I withdraw cashback from my account?
First, set up your preferred payment method in the Payouts section on cashback.opera.com. After that you can withdraw the amount you like anytime, as long you have at least the minimum amount of approved cashback in your account. Compensation, welcome bonuses and refunds are also included in this amount.
I can't log into my account. What should I do?
First, clear your cookies and try again. In addition, turn off any programs or extensions that may interfere with the login process, such as VPN services.
If you can’t remember your password, you can press Forgot password? on the login page. You will be asked for your email address or username. A password reset link will be sent to this email address.
Please note: if you have set up two-factor authentication (2FA) and lost access to your authentication app, as well as your backup codes, restoring access to your account is no longer possible. Please contact us here to find out if we are able to suggest any alternatives. We will do our best to help you.
How can I delete my account?
We’re sorry to hear that you want to close your account. If you have any questions about Opera you can always rely on our support - contact us and we'll try to help you with any issue you have.
If you're sure you want to delete your account, log into the Opera Cashback service. Click your profile in the top-right corner, select Account settings, and click on delete your account at the bottom. After selecting this option, confirm your decision by clicking Delete account. This will delete your Opera Cashback service account, but your main Opera account will remain unchanged.
If you change your mind within 10 days, it can still be restored. In this case, please contact Customer support for assistance. If your account has not been fully activated by confirming your email address, it is automatically deleted after 180 days of inactivity. For confirmed accounts, account deletion due to inactivity occurs after two years.
